F. Bradley Hassell is one of less than one thousand attorneys in Florida certified by the Florida Bar as a civil trial specialist, and is one of fewer than 46 attorneys certified by the Florida Bar in aviation law. Throughout his forty-three years of experience, he has represented clients as lead counsel in hundreds of jury trials in both state and federal courtrooms throughout Florida, and has also served as associate counsel in catastrophic injury and damage cases filed throughout the southeast United States, the courts of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and of the United States Virgin Islands . He has been rated AV Preeminent in legal ability and ethics by Martindale Hubbell for more than twenty-five years, and has been named to the list of Florida Super Lawyers in aviation and Aerospace law.
Mr. Hassell has represented corporate and business clients, governmental bodies, and individuals in personal injury, wrongful death and products liability claims, insurance coverage questions and disputes, appellate practice and aviation law, and consults with attorneys throughout Florida and the United States on complex litigation matters.
Mr. Hassell writes and speaks on aviation law, insurance coverage and litigation issues and has instructed upon aviation law, insurance law, and civil trial practice issues at courses sponsored by the Florida Bar, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the Helicopter Association International, and the American Bar Association. He is a past Chairman of the Florida Bar’s Aviation Law Committee and is presently a member of the Florida Bar’s Aviation Law Certification Committee.
Mr. Hassell also maintains an active appeal practice. Early in his career, he was recruited by the Chief Judge of the newly-created Fifth District Court of Appeal to assist in initiating that Court’s operations; in that capacity he developed and implemented that Court’s initial case handling and processing systems, and later served as a senior judicial research assistant for Judges Spencer C. Cross and Joe A. Cowart, Jr., of that Court, and continues to represent clients in appeals in both state and federal courts.
He is an active aviator, and is experienced in mishap and accident investigation and reconstruction, aircraft and automobile maintenance. In addition to a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida, Mr. Hassell holds a degree in finance (with a minor in economics) from the University of Central Florida.
